How to Wear Bandana With Hijab in 5 Different Ways

How to Wear Bandana With Hijab

Who doesn’t love bandanas? They’re pretty trendy, they’re easy to wrap, and they’re perfect for the summer.

But wait a minute; do you know how to wear a bandana with hijab? Well, if you don’t, today is your lucky day!

A bandana may look great wrapped around your forehead with your hair falling down your shoulders, but it looks even better with a hijab. So, here’s everything you need to know about wrapping a bandana with your scarf.

How to Wear Bandana With Hijab

Wearing a bandana with your hijab is as easy as wrapping it around your head, but you need to settle on a style first. Here are 5 different ways to style your bandana with your hijab:

1. The Side Knot

The side knot style is ultra-trendy, and it looks particularly good on people with large facial features.

To wrap a side-knot bandana, first wrap your hijab like you usually do. It’s preferred to wrap it loosely to create a ruffly look with the bandana.

After you wrap your hijab, fold your bandana into a triangular shape and wrap it around your head so that it knots on the side rather than the back. Then, bring the bandana’s ends together in an elegant knot on the side of your head.

To prevent creating a bulky look, you can tuck the bandana’s middle-end under the knot.

2. The Bedouin Style

If you’re going to a Bedouin-themed party, a safari trip, or even doing an Arabic nights video, you can try to tie your bandana in the Bedouin style. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to wear a high-collar blouse because this style doesn’t cover the neck.

To do so, grab your scarf and put it on your head so that it’s falling down your shoulders in equal lengths. Don’t use any pins to secure it because you’ll tie the bandana on top of it.

Grab your bandana and position it around your forehead so you have equal lengths at the back of your head. Then, tie the bandana in a knot right under your hair bun. It’s better to tie it tightly in two knots because it’s the only thing holding your hijab in place.

After you’re done, grab the two ends of your hijab and drape them over your back.

If you prefer to cover your neck, you can always wrap your hijab so that one side is longer than the other, and use the longer side to cover your neck by draping it over the opposite shoulder.

3. The Classic Style

If you prefer timeless looks, you can always go for the classic bandana wrap. To do so, do the same steps as the Bedouin style. This time, when you’re done, grab one end of your hijab and tie it with the other end in a loose knot.

Make the knot so that it’s at your collarbone, and don’t let it be too tight because you’re trying to get a loose look. Next, secure the tied end to the blouse you’re wearing using a pin, and let the other side drape down your shoulder.

4. The Loose Style

The loose style includes leaving the bandana’s middle end without tucking it in the ends to achieve a ruffly look.

To achieve this look, wrap your hijab like you usually do, leaving it a little loose around your face. Then, fold your bandana into a triangle and position it around your forehead so that its ends meet at the back of your head.

Tie both ends tightly around your head, and instead of tucking the middle part under the knot, leave it flying back there.

5. The High Knot

The high knot bandana is pretty easy to wrap. It’s not different from any of the other styles except that it has a high knot. So, instead of tying the knot at the back of your head below your hair bun, you tie it above the hair bun to achieve a trendy look.

In this case, you’ll tie both ends above your bun and tuck the middle end into the knot to get a neat look.

How to Choose a Bandana to Go With Your Hijab

Now that you know how to wrap your bandana on top of your hijab, here’s how to choose the suitable bandana:

Consider the Material

When choosing your bandana, you have to be mindful of the material you want. For example, if you’re going out on a casual outing or running errands, you can choose a cotton bandana.

Otherwise, go for silky bandanas if you’re going to a formal outing or a party. However, keep in mind that you can’t wrap two silky materials on top of each other because, for one, the friction will bother you. And secondly, they’ll keep slipping off each other. So, when you’re wearing a silky bandana, go for a modal or chiffon hijab.

Consider the Print

As a rule of thumb, you can’t wear a printed bandana on top of a printed hijab. There will be too much going up there, and you’ll struggle to achieve a balanced look because you can’t add any more prints to the outfit.

So, always make sure to wear a solid-colored hijab when you’re wearing a printed bandana, and vice versa. That way, you get a balanced look, and you can style your outfit freely without being bound by two different prints.

We generally recommend wearing a solid-colored hijab with a printed bandana instead of the alternative because printed bandanas are ultra-chic and trendy.

To Wrap Up

So, do you now know how to wear bandana with hijab?

The steps are pretty easy, as long as you can decide which style you want. The Bedouin style is perfect for themed parties and safari trips, but you’ll have to pick your outfit carefully because the hijab style doesn’t offer much neck coverage.

Our personal favorite is the loose style because it looks free and fun. Plus, it’s trendy, which is a bonus!
