A turban hijab is trendy, elegant, and suitable for all seasons! It’s the master of all trades of hijab styles, and it looks good on all facial structures. But the thing about a turban hijab is, if you don’t wrap it correctly, you may end up with a botched hijab!
Don’t worry; here, we’ll show you how to wrap a turban hijab in multiple ways, so if one method fails, you can always try the other one.
How to Wrap a Turban Hijab: Quick and Easy
There are multiple ways to wrap a turban, and the good thing is, they all look nearly the same. However, you should choose the right method depending on the material and length of your scarf.
Here are all the possible ways to wrap a turban hijab:
1# Let’s Twist Again!
No; this is not Chubby Checker’s hit song! It’s an easy and quick way to wrap your turban by twisting the sides of your hijab. Here are the steps you need to do:
- Grab a long hijab and position it over your head so that it’s slightly off the center. You should aim at having one side longer than the other, but not by much. 10–15 cms are enough.
- Hold the scarf from both sides right under your ears, and start twisting them.
- Keep the twisting beneath your ears, so that the top part stays neat on your head
- Take both sides at the back and cross them at the nape of your neck, making sure the part on your head is covering all your hair.
- Continue to wrap both sides around your head, getting their ends to meet at the side of your head at the front. The longer side should be able to reach the opposite side of your head.
- Tie both sides in an elegant knot, making sure to tie it tight enough to keep the hijab in place.
- Now, tuck the short ends in the knot, making sure not to create a bulky look. If the ends are long enough, you can wrap them around the back of your head again and tuck them under the turban.

2# Go for a Squared Scarf
A squared scarf is easier to wrap into a turban because you won’t have long ends that you need to tuck somewhere. If you have one, you can attempt to wrap it into a turban, but make sure the material is thin enough because thin materials are easier to handle.
Besides, you’ll have to make sure the scarf is large enough because you’ll need to wrap it around your head twice when it’s folded. A rectangular scarf can come in handy if you don’t have a large squared hijab. The only difference is that you’ll fold it length-wise instead of in a triangular shape.
Here are the steps you need to do:
- Fold the squared scarf in a triangular shape, so that both ends meet each other without one side being longer than the other.
- Grab the folded scarf and put it on top of your head so that the pointed end is draping down your forehead. The two sides should be around your neck now.
- Grab both sides and wrap them around your head so that both cross at your forehead. Then, wrap them around your head again, tying them at the back under your hair bun.
- If the scarf isn’t long enough to be wrapped around your head again, you can just tie them into a knot at the front of your head, then tuck the ends and the pointed part under the knot elegantly.
3# African Style
The African-style turban is a no-fuss style that’ll look good on pretty much everyone. You can also style it with a pair of nice earrings by leaving your earlobes visible. Here’s how to wrap it:
- Lay the scarf on your head so that both sides are at equal lengths. Then, wrap it around the back of your head, making sure to cover your hair entirely.
- The two sides should cross at the nape of your neck, and you should wrap them around your neck again so they’re draping down your shoulders.
- Grab one side and wrap it around your head entirely, then tuck its end under the back of your turban.
- Do the same with the other side, wrapping it around your head and then tucking it under the turban.
- If you want to make sure the ends stay tucked, you can secure them using pins or thin hair clips.
