Inspired by Durria’s strength, we chose Sapphire as the muse for this scarf. Sapphire is a representation of mystical power & strength with its mesmerizing deep-blue hue. Adorned with gold structured lines to give an elegant yet edgy look that will make you feel that you too can change the world!

This scarf was Inspired by Durria Shafik, a change maker, an Egyptian educator, journalist, and reformer who campaigned for women’s rights in Egypt and founded Bint al-Nīl, a magazine and organization that promoted women’s development. She engaged in a variety of social and political activities such as; creating the first female military unit of 2000 women to aid in the struggle against the British occupation, went on a hunger strikes as a protest against the exclusion of women from political life, and thanks to her efforts women were given the right to vote!
